YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Terror Squad (Fat Joe and Remy Ma) – “Lean Back”

Following his success in the 2001-2002 period, Fat Joe took a little time off from the game. In mid-2003, Fat Joe made inroads with plans of returning. The Terror Squad leader dealt with some static with Jay Z and then got back to work.

Taking the remaining members of Terror Squad, Fat Joe scored a deal with Steve Rifkind’s SRC Records and got to work. The end result was the album, True Story, which boasted a banger. All the time Fat Joe spent in Miami paid off, as Scott Storch gave him a classic.

Fat Joe recorded “Lean Back” and, initially, meant for it to be a solo track, but Remy Ma forced her way onto the track. During the summer of 2004, “Lean Back” owned the radio and topped Billboard. The song was a basis in 50 Cent’s beef with Fat Joe and, in the wake of Joe reuniting with Remy Ma, Hip Hop Vibe’s Wednesday Throwback.
