Recently, there’s been all kinds of news about Ne-Yo, ranging from crazy sextapes to stories about his business work. Given how much is being said about Ne-Yo, it’s easy to forget he makes hits. Going on eleven years, Ne-Yo has a pretty dope history in the game.
Signed to Def Jam during the L.A. Reid/Jay Z era, Ne-Yo was an immediate success. His debut album, In My Own Words, was a platinum success and “Stay” with Peedi Peedi was the lead single. The song would not be as successful as the later releases.
Still, however, Ne-Yo managed to own the game and “Stay ” started it all. Later, Ne-Yo would go on to run Motown Records and score a role as a producer on “Empire.” As a lead artist, it all began with “Stay,” this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
