Yesterday, the entertainment world woke up to some devastating news, just before Mother’s Day. Hip hop’s Mother’s Day anthem, “Dear Mama,” was based on Afeni Shakur. But, yesterday the world received the tough news of her dying.
The timing was more ironic than painful, as Mrs. Shakur died during the week of Mother’s Day. In fact, VH1 is doing a special called “Dear Mama,” hosted by Anthony Anderson. Solace was found in mother and son being reunited in spirit, as Mrs. Shakur can be with her son again.
With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, everyone paying attention to this article, please cherish the mothers in your life. This is the 1995 classic Tupac single. The “Dear Mama” joint is this week’s Wednesday Throwback, rest in peace to both Tupac and Afeni Shakur.
