Definitely, Yo Gotti is a man who beat the odds, from a city that’s also beaten the odds. Since the 1990s, Memphis has had a presence on the hip hop scene. However, it wasn’t until the 2010s that Memphis emerged as a hip hop mecca. Now, there are a handful of rappers from Memphis that are making a huge impact on the game. At this point, Yo Gotti is the biggest rapper to emerge from Memphis, and he’s had longevity.
Yo Gotti hasn’t released an album since 2017, until he dropped CM10: Free Game. This album is intended to be his final album. After years of developing his CMG label, Yo Gotti is hanging the mic up in order to focus on running the label. Gotti has proven to have a good eye for talent, signing Moneybagg Yo and Blac Youngsta at the same time. Other artists on the CMG roster include 42 Dugg, who is also signed to Lil Baby’s label.
Since 2016, Yo Gotti has had CMG partnered with Interscope Records. Yo Gotti, meanwhile, is partnered with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. With CM10 being his final release, Yo Gotti has returned with a new single. He has now returned with the “Giving Back” music video, where he’s riding around Memphis.
