Ten years ago, Yo Gotti dreamed of the position that he currently holds. Actually, Yo Gotti has been around a lot longer than people realize. While he is recognized as a relatively newer artist, Yo Gotti dropped his debut album the same year as Jay-Z, 1996. Those were the Lil Yo days, when he was still a teenager. Now, Yo Gotti is a grown man, and one of the most powerful record executives in the music industry.
Yo Gotti is a force in the game and he reached a deal with RCA in 2011. In 2012, Yo Gotti released Live From The Underground, which put him on the map as a mainstream artist. The following year, Yo Gotti partnered with Epic Records, and released I Am. That album included Yo Gotti’s first breakout radio hit, “Act Right,” featuring Jeezy and YG. From 2013 until 2017, Yo Gotti released a hit single every other year. In 2015, he dropped “Down In The DM,” and in 2017 he dropped “Rake It Up,” with Nicki Minaj, which was the biggest hit of his career.
In 2017, Yo Gotti partnered with Jay-Z at Roc Nation. This was the same year he signed Moneybagg Yo, who has been one of the biggest rappers in the game. Yo Gotti now taps him for his single, “Ya Bih,” dropping the music video this week.
