A decade ago, Wale was one of the most promising rappers in the game. In 2011, Wale signed with Maybach Music and immediately became the label’s standout artist. Late in 2011, Wale released Ambition, his sophomore album. However, Ambition is the album that introduced a wider audience to Wale’s music. Into 2012, Wale still released singles from the album, and “Sabotage,” featuring Lloyd became a hit for him.
Wale became one of the most popular rappers in the game. For years, Wale expressed frustration about not being in the conversation of the other XXL Freshmen 2009 artists. However, 2011-2012 saw Wale begin to tap into his potential. While Wale was considered a lyrical rapper, he found a knack for creating the hits with the R&B singers. During the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards, Wale had the chance to perform his hit, “That Way,” with El DeBarge.
Despite saying he would retire, Wale is not only still here, he is posting his biggest hits. Recently, Wale dropped his newest album, Folarin II. The album has been met with positive reviews and “Tiffany Nikes” has become a standout track. This morning, Wale gave it the single treatment, and he returned with the official music video.
