The Game – “Dreams”

Few artists have a true love and understanding for hip hop how The Game does. Growing up as a kid in Compton, The Game idolized Dr. Dre. In the early 2000s, The Game had the opportunity to work with Dre. This led to Dre signing him to Aftermath Entertainment. After spending years on the Aftermath roster, The Game was moved into the roster of G-Unit, both the group and the label.

The Game collaborated with 50 Cent, but the two soon began beefing. Before The Game and 50 Cent began beefing, they dropped “How We Do” and “Hate It or Love It.” While both songs are classics, “Hate It or Love It” is the reason for Game and 50 Cent having beef. Finally, The Game seems to have moved past the beef, as it was rarely mentioned on last year’s The R.E.D. Album.

Later this year, The Game is rumored to be releasing his fifth studio album. Tonight, Hip Hop Vibe is looking at some of Game’s earlier work. When The Game recorded The Documentary, he worked a lot with 50 Cent, but he also worked with Kanye West. Together, The Game and Kanye West crafted the song, “Dreams,” which is an ode to Compton. The Game dedicated the song to Yetunde Price, Venus and Serena Williams’ sister, who was killed in a 2003 Compton shootout.
