Phoenix Suns vs. Dallas Mavericks | Game 1 | FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS [VIDEO]

Suns withstand late Dallas comeback to win Game 1

The Phoenix Suns were the NBA’s best team, during the regular season. Nobody could keep up with the Phoenix Suns. After a 1-3 start, the Suns went 63-15 the rest of the way. Towards the end of the season, the Suns took their foot off the gas. Still, the Suns set a franchise record for wins, at 64. Previously, Charles Barkley led the Suns to a 62-20 MVP season in 1993. In 2005, Steve Nash did the exact same thing.

Devin Booker is the leader of the current incarnation of the Phoenix Suns. Booker was drafted in 2015 and the Suns were consistently a terrible team. Back then, the Suns were focused on stacking young talent. Despite this, Devin Booker was putting up historic numbers, including 70 points in a blowout loss to the Celtics. In 2020, during the bubble, Devin Booker and the Suns finally got it together, winning eight straight games.

Chris Paul joined the Suns during the 2020 offseason. With a veteran presence added, Devin Booker led the Suns to their first playoff appearance since 2010. The Suns went to their first NBA Finals since 1993 and almost won the title. This season, the Suns have played like the champions. After surviving the Pelicans, the Suns earned the Mavericks. Luka Doncic dominated with scoring, nearly leading the Mavs back from an over 20 point deficit. The Suns literally held the Mavs off for a Game 1 win.
