During that time, the Chris Paul/Blake Griffin-led Los Angeles Clippers were the rising team the NBA loved. When the Warriors pushed them to a Game 7, critics viewed Golden State as an annoyance. However, there were some who believed the team could be a title contender.
In 2014, the Warriors started winning games, finishing the 2015 season at 67-15. The Warriors didn’t stop there, winning the championship. Led by Steph Curry, the Warriors actually went to the NBA Finals five straight times. Injuries prevented the Warriors from enjoying a three-peat, as the Toronto Raptors, instead, enjoyed their first title. Golden State, meanwhile, was depleted by injuries and losing Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets, in free agency.
When Steph Curry returned from injury, he made it his mission to restore the Warriors to glory. Last season, he was the NBA’s leading scorer. In the play-in, the Warriors lost at the hands of a LeBron James game-winner, and would eventually lose the final playoff spot to Ja Morant’s Grizzlies. This season, the Warriors have held the NBA’s second best record. The Warriors, Suns, Grizzlies, and Jazz hold the West’s top spots. Last night, the Warriors lost to the Clippers. Early, when Steph was benched, he jokingly screamed “I’M HOT.”
