Russell Westbrook giggles while the Lakers are getting blown out
One season in, the Russell Westbrook experiment, for the Lakers, has been a disaster. During the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers retooled their entire roster. The goal was for the Lakers to return to championship form. Last season, the Lakers got off to a 22-7 start, on their title defense season. Injuries slowed the Lakers down, as they fell from title contention. Ultimately, the Lakers fell into the play-in, where they defeated the Warriors to earn their playoff spot.
LeBron James’ Lakers led a tough six game series against the Phoenix Suns. The Paul/Booker duo ended up being too much for the depleted Lakers. After Game 6, the Lakers’ offseason began and many of the core members from the 2020 title run returned. However, injuries and chemistry issues have doomed this team. On the outside looking in, at the playoffs, the Lakers’ are looking up at the Suns, Warriors, Grizzlies, Jazz, Nuggets, and Mavericks in the West.
Tonight, the Lakers hosted Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on TNT. The game was a blowout win, for the Bucks, but the Lakers did stage a late comeback attempt, cutting the Bucks’ lead to eight. Towards the end of the game, LeBron James had an angry look, whereas Russell Westbrook was giggling.
