Definitely, the current core of the Celtics have been on deep playoff runs before. Actually, Jayson Tatum came up big in 2018 as a rookie, when the stars were injured, and the Celtics almost won.
Giannis Antetokounmpo came into his own in 2019 and the Bucks have been contenders ever since. In both 2019 and 2020, Giannis won the MVP and the Bucks had the NBA’s best record. However, the Bucks came up short in the playoffs, both seasons. Last year, Giannis’ Bucks were overshadowed by the hype surrounding the Brooklyn Nets. Giannis personally ended that in Game 7, en route to his first title.
Giannis is tasked with defending his title by going on the road. Boston earned the NBA’s second seed as the first team in NBA history to start the year outside of the playoffs and earn the second seed. For a brief period, the Celtics took the first seed. Giannis and the Bucks also held first for a bit. At their first game, the refs were looking at the rapper, Jack Harlow, confused. They were wondering who he was.
