Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer
This past weekend, hip hop showed up in a big way at SXSW. On a positive note, Universal Music Group came through big, as they always do. They held the Music Is Universal Showcase that had several big names hold it down.
Universal Music Group is the biggest music provider in the world and many notable artists are signed to its various labels. But, this showcase was for the newer artists to get footing. Our partners at Dailymotion shared some performances from the hip hop roster.
BJ The Chicago Kid, Vince Staples, and Niykee Heaton were among the performers for Music Is Universal. While Niykee Heaton is not quite hip hop, she has built an impressive fan base within the community. Performances from them, plus Snarky Puppy, and an interview from him, are all included below:
