Currently, Corey Kushington is the man who is dominating the hip hop internet world. Releasing tons of new music, Corey Kushington has his single, “Like Me,” doing well. The “Like Me” music video has crossed 200,000 views in a little over a month.
Corey Kushington represents the new era of rap and he is a native of Upstate New York. Definitely bringing a new vibe into the game, he has found a niche with his music. Completely independent, Corey Kushington has amassed a gigantic fan-base.
Recently, Hip Hop Vibe spoke to Corey Kushington and he spoke on his recent success. Scoring over 200,000 views on one video in a single month is no easy feat. During the interview, Corey Kushington would discuss that and much more.

How would you describe your journey to stardom in hip hop? Its been a long journey. I didn’t know anything about the structure of music or songs. It was like trying to learn a new language but as long as you keep practicing anything is possible.
What would you say has been your biggest mistake that you learned from? The biggest mistake i learned from was letting people distract me from the task at hand. Nothing is more important then the music always put music first there will always be time to chill and have fun. Work now, play later.
Apparently, you are doing something right, as your single, “Like Me,” has gone viral in just a month, what is the key to your success? Lots of promo. Everywhere I go, I’m telling people about what I’m doing, where to check out my video and where to follow me on social media. Also, having One Percent push my video has helped a lot they been doing a great job networking and getting me out there!
Many people buy into positive thinking being the most valuable asset, what is your opinion on that? Definitely, you must always remain positive. Negative thinking only slows you down and stops you from growing to achieve your goals. With a positive mind anything is possible.
As successful as you are online, surely some heavy hitters have reached out to you. Will you soon be doing tracks with some established artists? Nothing set in stone yet but have some plans that we are pursuing and right now the plans looking like getting YelaWolf to feature on a track and in my next video!
What are some “out of the box” ideas that you plan to implement? I am a spray paint artist and perform my art at many music festivals through out the US so i will be incorporating my spray art into some of my future music video.
Often noted, the game has changed, some say for better, and some say worse. How has it played into your strengths? Every game is always changing, that’s what makes the games keep going. If it was always the same, people would get bored and it would die out. Therefore being a versatile artist is so important. If you can write, sing and rap, make pop, hip hop, and other genres of music then you have way more options to pursue in your career and have more value and career longevity.
What should fans expect from Corey Kushington in the future? Lot of good positive music. I just released my first Hip-Hop project on June 10th the “Hood Hippie” EP get it now on iTunes. Also I’m currently working on two more projects. One project consisting of positive pop/electric tracks and the other project consisting of trapped out EDM/DubStep sounding tracks.
