Luka Doncic has proven that he is a star in the NBA. For three straight years, Luka Doncic has led the Mavericks to the playoffs. This year, Luka Doncic led the Mavs to their first 50 win season since 2015, at 52-30. While Luka Doncic is a force of nature, the question has been who will step up and be Luka’s co-star.
Luka Doncic is one of the NBA’s best players and he’s only getting better. But even the best players need a strong supporting cast. Clearly, Luka Doncic by himself is not going to be enough to beat the Phoenix Suns in a seven game series. After two games, the Phoenix Suns led the Mavericks 2-0. When the series shifted to Dallas, for Game 3, Luka Doncic got help.
Luka Doncic and Spencer Dinwiddie found good chemistry, this season. During the trade deadline, Dallas traded for Spencer Dinwiddie. Through the season, Spencer Dinwiddie got credit for stepping up as Luka’s co-star. Late in the season, the Mavericks won the season series with Golden State, and briefly claimed the third seed. In Game 3, Luka was mad Spencer didn’t get the ball, but Dallas still won.
