Luka Doncic flops hard against Rudy Gobert
In a short period of time, the Dallas Mavericks have come a long way. Following their 2011 title run, the Mavericks have struggled. The team went from an annual playoff contender to only making the postseason every few years. In 2014, though, the eighth seeded Mavericks pushed the San Antonio Spurs to seven games. This was pivotal, as the Spurs would cruise through the rest of the playoffs to win the championship.
The Mavericks began rebuilding and eventually traded for Kristaps Porzingis, who was to become the next face of the franchise. Between injuries and chemistry issues, Kristaps never quite fit with the Mavericks. However, Luka Doncic showed up, and has emerged as the franchise player that the Dallas Mavericks have needed. The past two seasons, Luka Doncic has gotten the Mavericks to the playoffs. Both times, they lost in seven games to the Los Angeles Clippers, in the first round.
This season, the Dallas Mavericks are making noise, as contenders. Last night, they got a much needed home win over the Utah Jazz, who currently hold the fourth seed. The top of the NBA Western Conference is consisted of the Suns, Warriors, Grizzlies, Jazz, and Mavericks. This also duplicates the list for the top of the NBA. With a win over the Jazz, the Mavericks are within a half game of the fourth seed. To make sure this happened, Luka Doncic had an insane flop against Rudy Gobert.
