LeBron James scores Lakers first 12 points in 3 minutes
During the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers reconstructed their 2020 title team. Along with bringing back the key players, they also added Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. In 2020, the Lakers earned a record that was equivalent to 60-22. With this being the first 82 game NBA season, in three years, 60 wins wasn’t a far-fetched thought.
However, the Lakers have struggled mightily. The struggles were so bad that Rajon Rondo was traded, early in the season. Because of the Lakers’ weak play, LeBron James was rumored to be leaving the team in the offseason. At one point, the Lakers went on an eleven game losing streak. Their streak matched that of the Brooklyn Nets, another team expected to contend for a title.
At age 37, LeBron James can no longer carry a team for an entire season. But that doesn’t mean LeBron can’t do it in spurts. Solely due to LeBron James, the Lakers are playing much better. Despite the losses, the Lakers are still play-in contenders. The Lakers are a team the top seeds are afraid to face, in the first round. LeBron James proved why when he began the game on a 12-0 run, against the Pelicans.
