Kyrie Irving hugs Isaiah Thomas and tells him “don’t be sad, bro,” as he drops 50 points on the Hornets in Charlotte | Nets at Hornets [VIDEO]

Kyrie Irving tells Isaiah Thomas to not be sad after 50 point game

Five years ago, Isaiah Thomas was the NBA’s success story. During the 2017 season, Isaiah Thomas won the hearts of NBA fans. The Boston Celtics made a midseason 2015 trade and Isaiah Thomas was a part of the deal. Few people expected him to become the franchise player. But despite leading the Celtics to the East’s top seed and having an MVP level season, IT got traded. A hip injury forced an abrupt end to his Cinderella season and the Celtics traded him for Kyrie Irving.

Isaiah Thomas went from being an MVP candidate to being out of the league. It got even worse, for the Celtics, as Kyrie Irving was often injured, and he left for the Brooklyn Nets, after two years. With the Nets, Kyrie Irving has continued to struggle, despite having Kevin Durant and James Harden for teammates. When they played together, they were unstoppable, but they were upset by the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs. Then, James Harden was traded for Ben Simmons.

At one point, the Brooklyn Nets held the top record in the East, this season. But, as far as that goes, so did the Charlotte Hornets. Yet, both teams have spent time on the outside looking in for the playoffs. The Hornets, Nets, and Hawks are currently battling for the eighth seed. All look like play-in teams. Last night, the Nets went to Charlotte and blew the Hornets out. Kyrie Irving had the best game of the season, scoring 50 points. At the end of the game, he hugged Isaiah Thomas and told him to not be sad.
