The Sixers were watching while the Bucks went to the Finals and won the title. Ben Simmons was blamed for the Sixers’ collapse and he refused to play after Game 7.
The Sixers pulled off a midseason trade, bringing in James Harden from the Brooklyn Nets. Initially, the trade looked genius, as Harden got off to a good start. Since Harden’s great start, the Sixers have had tons of struggles. While Ben Simmons hasn’t played for the Nets, they have overcome their eleven game losing streak, and are competing for the eighth seed.
Speaking of seeding, the Sixers lost the tiebreaker to the Milwaukee Bucks. The teams had the same record, so the Sixers essentially lost their playoff spot. Sporting identical records with the Bucks, the Sixers are a game behind the Boston Celtics, too. Tonight, the Sixers played the Raptors in Toronto and James Harden airballed a three pointer late, costing them the game. This loss also locked them in as the fourth seed. That explains Joel Embiid’s walk off.
