Inspired By Greatness (Q The Question’s Top Labels): Cash Money Records

Because the Inspired By Greatness series didn’t continue on as planned on Tuesday, tonight was used to double up. Even though there were only four labels mentioned on the intro with Trel Mack, there are a lot more labels to count. But, for sure, Cash Money Records was mentioned and at the top of the list.

A lot of people don’t know this, but Cash Money Records started in New Orleans before the No Limit movement. Both labels were run by New Orleans hustlers who knew the art of making money. The game has changed a lot since they came up, but their come up has inspired SKE Records.

Doubling up with Hip Hop Vibe, Cash Money Records is the second spotlight label. But, understand this, it is the old Cash Money that inspires the SKE movement. Not saying that there is no love for Drake and Nicki, but there was just something about that old sound.

See the greatness that inspired us below:

Big Tymers – “Get Ya Roll On”

Hip Hop Vibe featured this during their Big Tymers tribute and they did right because the song is a classic. “Get Ya Roll On” is a Cash Money favorite.

Lil Wayne ft. Mack 10 – “Shine”

A sequel, of sorts, to “Bling Bling,” “Shine” is probably one of Lil Wayne’s biggest pre-Carter III hits.

B.G. ft. The Hot Boyz and Big Tymers – “Bling Bling”

“Shine” is cool, but there’s nothing like the real thing. This song is what established Cash Money as a force in the game.

Juvenile – “U Understand”

Juvenile was the first flagship artist from Cash Money Records and “U Understand” is an all-time Q The Question favorite.

Juvenile – “Ha”

Juvenile’s first major hit was “Ha,” this record is still a banger. Classic, hands down.
