Alright people, another interesting week in hip hop has ended and there is one rapper who prevailed, Wale. It turns out, it was best for him to not give into the peer pressure and drop his album on June 18. Waiting it out has Wale poised to cruise to the top of the charts with The Gifted.
Wale has found a niche with his songs for the ladies, the latest emcee to fill this lane. He garnered acclaim with “Sabotage,” which had an old school feel. Not many would try it again, but Wale did with Sam Dew for his “Love/Hate Thing” single. Instead of simply repeating his success, Wale did even better his second time around.
On Instagram, there have been photos of Wale floating wearing a suit. This week, all of that made sense when Wale was sporting the suit in the “Love/Hate Thing” music video. Since this week has belonged to Wale, it was only right for “Love/Hate Thing” to be the Video of the Week for Hip Hop Vibe this week, especially with him bringing the show to Letterman.
