This summer, it was hard to ignore Chicago, especially on the mixtape scene. One reason Chicago was so hard to ignore was because of Blanco Caine. This year, a lot of rappers wanted to step up to the plate and make their mark, Blanco Caine was included in this list.
Blanco Caine used the first half of the year for the promotion of his White America mixtape. During the summer, race relations became a hot topic due to the situation with Trayvon Martin. When Blanco Caine talked to Hip Hop Vibe, he spoke on this and his decision to still call his mixtape White America.
White America dropped and fellow Chicago artist, Giftz, appeared on the mixtape alongside Calico Jonez, Young Buck, Mikkey Halsted, and Broadway. The mixtape was hosted by Vic Lloyd, Bigga Rankin, and DJ Supastar J Kwik. This mixtape was another major release of the summer.
