Exotic Cars Loved by Hip Hop: Lamborghini

By the 2000s, Mercedes-Benz and BMW had become second rate exotic cars in hip hop and replaced in favor of the Lamborghini. A longtime favorite in hip hop, more and more rappers began featuring the “Lambo” in their music videos and in lyrics. In 2003, Busta Rhymes boasted a Lamborghini in his “I Know What You Want” video.

When Nicki Minaj was still a relatively new name, the Young Money rapstress boasted a Lamborghini in her “Massive Attack” video. Over the years, countless rappers have boasted of their wealth and they have included the Lamborghini in their rhymes. Last summer, Kanye West took things a step farther with his “Mercy” single with G.O.O.D. Music.

Previously, Kanye West rapped about a Lamborghini Murcielago on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. But, fully embracing his materialistic tendencies on his Cruel Summer album, Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz rapped about the vehicle. While some continue to throw theories of a demonic meaning, most simply enjoy the lyrics.

The regular people of the world have big money visions, not just Ca$h Out, and they indulge in the lifestyle which Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Busta Rhymes can easily afford. Rapping about the price of fame and wealth, Jay-Z said “the fame ain’t for the vain of heart” and this was true in the case of Bow Wow and Soulja Boy, who began a playful back and forth over their Lamborghinis and it turned into a serious beef. Below are photos and videos of various Lamborghinis and the hip hop artists who love them.

Nicki Minaj’s pink Lamborghini used in the “Massive Attack” music video

Nicki LamboWhen Nicki Minaj was still considered a relatively new hip hop artist, she turned heads when she dropped the “Massive Attack” video. Into the millions were spent for the video that included a helicopter and a Lamborghini. Amber Rose appeared in the Thelma & Louise-styled video that immediately caused a media frenzy. Eventually, the rental company filed a lawsuit against Nicki Minaj and company over the apparent damages to the vehicle during the video shoot.

Lamborghini Murceilago
Murci realKanye West brought quite a bit of attention to the Lamborghini Murceilago last summer. On a roll, Kanye West announced his romance with Kim Kardashian and his new car all in the same week. In many ways, the car has been one of the defining moments in KimYe history. During the summer of 2012, Kanye West’s single, “Mercy” became one of the biggest hits of the summer. Of course, Lamborghini has enjoyed all of the free press which has come from Kanye West and his boasting. Unlike its sibling, the Gallardo, the Murcielago is still going strong.

Yellow Lamborghini in Busta Rhymes’ “I Know What You Want” video

Lambo BustaIn 2003, Busta Rhymes solidified his position in the game when he placed the entire Flipmode roster on his “I Know What You Want” single with Mariah Carey. On the song, one member raps of pulling up in the above Lamborghini. It still feels like yesterday, but it has been a full decade since this song was considered “new.” At the time, the specific car titles, outside of the brand were not mentioned. But, much like KimYe, Busta Buss and queen Mariah Carey were on the lookout for a yellow Lamborghini Murcielago.

There are a countless number of other Lamborghinis mentioned in music videos by a wide range of other artists, but these have resonated the most in the mainstream hip hop world.
