The new ABC series, “Queens,” unites Eve, Brandy, and Naturi Naughton, for the first time. Aside from these ladies, there’s also Nadine Velazquez. Together, they portray a female rap group, reuniting to perform for the first time, in twenty years.
Each of Eve, Brandy, and Naturi Naughton represent different eras, within the culture. In the early 1990s, Brandy rose to fame, as a singer. She also had “Moesha,” a teen favorite, as Eve took over rap, in the late 1990s. She would also have a sitcom, in the early/mid-2000s.
Naturi Naughton, meanwhile, was one third of 3LW, in the early 2000s. The group didn’t have the best of endings and she fell from the spotlight. In 2014, she returned, and is now best-known for being ‘Tasha,’ on “Power.” For six years, she played opposite Omari Hardwick’s ‘Ghost,’ and reprised the role in the sequel series, led by Michael Rainey, Jr.
This morning, Eve, Brandy, and Naturi Naughton joined “The Breakfast Club.” Their co-star, Nadine Velazquez, was also present, as the ladies discussed “Queens.” Not only did the women explain how the show came together, they also spoke on what they experienced leading up to being cast in the series. The series premieres tonight, at 10 pm EST.
