DJ YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: MC Eiht – “Streiht Up Menace”

Major apology for being behind with this today, it’s been a long day at Hip Hop Vibe for the entire team, but all the excuses stop now. Every Wednesday, the Hip Hop Vibe team takes it back, because no other team does on Wednesday, right? A lot happened in hip hop and throwback means more than the artists often mentioned.

No disrespect to the mentioned veterans and OGs, but there are many more who made moves. MC Eiht comes to mind when speaking of the old school, as he was the front man for Compton’s Most Wanted. In 1993, MC Eiht went solo after Compton’s Most Wanted received success and he had a role in the Menace II Society film.

MC Eiht was also included on the Menace II Society soundtrack, allowing him the chance to release “Streiht Up Menace.” The song is regarded as a West Coast classic and it is reflected upon fondly. This, plus wanting to show the West Coast some love makes MC Eiht’s past hit, “Streiht Up Menace,” the Wednesday Throwback this week.
