The Wednesday Throwback came a little later than most have come to expect it this week and Hip Hop Vibe apologizes for that. Good things take time and this week, the decision was made to do something different. A big figure in hip hop over the years is Mariah Carey, the wife of Nick Cannon.
In 1999, Mariah Carey released her album, Rainbow, and “Heartbreaker” was the lead single. The song was co-produced by Mariah Carey and DJ Clue and Jay-Z was the featured artist on the single. But, the remix, which DJ Clue also handled, featured both Da Brat and Missy Elliott at the height of their careers.
This week, Hip Hop Vibe decided to pay homage to Mariah Carey for all that she has done. Also, we wanted to contribute something for Women’s History Month, so the “Heartbreaker” remix with Da Brat and Missy Elliott is the Wednesday Throwback. So, let’s take it back to 1999 with some old school Mariah Carey.
