The past few years have brought about some unexpected hip hop comebacks and one of the most-unexpected ones was Peter Gunz. His name made its way back into headlines when his son, Cory Gunz, emerged as a new artist. Cory Gunz starred in the MTV series, “Son of a Gun,” as did Peter Gunz.
More recently, Peter Gunz has starred in VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop,” where he has made a name for himself. But, before television entered the picture, Peter Gunz was known as one of the nicest to rock the mic. Together with Lord Tariq, Peter Gunz was one of the game’s biggest forces.
Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz took the game over early in 1998, when they released their “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)” single. The song was off their Make It Reign album and it quickly hit the top ten on Billboard and went platinum. Sixteen years after the fact, the record is a classic and this week, Hip Hop Vibe has made it the Wednesday Throwback.
