DJ YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Foxy Brown ft. BLACKstreet – “Get Me Home”

The year of 1996 was a good one for hip hop, some may argue it was the last “good” year hip hop had. This was the last time the game would have both Biggie and Tupac alive. So much has changed since then, but this was the year that saw the introductions to both Jay-Z and Foxy Brown.

After appearing on Jay-Z’s “Ain’t No Nigga,” Foxy Brown began working on her debut album, Ill Na Na. Signed to Def Jam, Foxy Brown immediately made an impact with her “Get Me Home” single featuring BLACKstreet. The song was an immediate hit and a hip hop classic.

Taking things back on Wednesday like Hip Hop Vibe does, Foxy Brown’s debut is the main feature. “Get Me Home” is the lead single and this week’s Wednesday Throwback track. The song originally peaked at number forty-two on Billboard and number ten on the rap charts.
