The year of 1998 was big for DMX, who was previously introduced on the controversial LL Cool J single, “4,3,2,1.” In 1998, DMX was cast to star in the Hype Williams film, Belly, alongside Nas, Method Man, and T-Boz from TLC. Belly’s soundtrack embraced their music background.

Most consider the DMX-led song, “Grand Finale,” as the theme song of the film, as it plays during the opening scenes. The song features the future of Def Jam, with DMX having Ja Rule on the track. Also featured was longtime Def Jam emcee, Method Man, and then Nas, who would join the label in 2006.

With today being the last day of 2014, it is the “Grand Finale” of the year, so we have to end it with a bang. The “Grand Finale” is Belly’s “Grand Finale,” by DMX and featuring Method Man, Nas, and Ja Rule. This track originally was released in 1998, but it’s still a good “turn up” track close to seventeen years later.
