In 2002, Murder Inc. took over the game, with Ja Rule making a new home on top of Billboard. This was when Ashanti was officially brought into the label, joining Ja Rule on top. After breakout appearances on Ja Rule’s “Always on Time” and Fat Joe’s “What’s Luv,” Ashanti went solo.
Ashanti made her official debut with the single, “Foolish,” the lead single off her self-titled debut. The music video for “Foolish” was very entertaining and based off Goodfellas. Her co-star in the music video was none other than Lucious Lyon, himself, Terrence Howard.
Seeing how popular “Empire” has become over the past few months and the popularity of Terrence Howard, it made sense to feature some of his older work. Ashanti had Terrence Howard co-star in the “Foolish” music video. This week, the Wednesday Throwback is “Foolish,” off Ashanti’s self-titled debut album.
