Brandon Ingram accidentally hit Cam Johnson in the face

Brandon Ingram is viewed as the best player in this Pelicans / Suns playoff series. Devin Booker went down with an injury in Game 2. Brandon Ingram and the Pelicans managed to capitalize off Booker’s injury and steal Game 2 in Phoenix. Prior to Devin Booker’s injury, the Phoenix Suns were heavy favorites to win the championship. On the other hand, the New Orleans Pelicans were a team that nobody gave a chance to.

Brandon Ingram was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019. Ingram was drafted by the Lakers and projected to become their next franchise player. When LeBron James signed with the Lakers, it put Brandon Ingram in a difficult situation. LeBron James and Brandon Ingram both play small forward and both are franchise guys. In 2019, Brandon Ingram and LeBron James didn’t work out, so Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball were traded for Anthony Davis.

Brandon Ingram has come into his own during the 2022 season. The New Orleans Pelicans are without their star, Zion Williamson, so many expected them to tank. When the Pelicans started 1-2, and continued to 3-16, it looked like they were well on their way. But, the Pelicans kept playing and took advantage of the Lakers’ collapse to make the play-in, with home court advantage. The Pelicans beat the Spurs to take the eighth seed, and had the chance to go up 2-1 on the Suns. It didn’t happen.
