Ben Simmons goes crazy after Seth Curry makes Nets debut
Had things turned out differently, Ben Simmons may be the NBA’s reigning regular season or Finals MVP. That was the hope for the Philadelphia 76ers, who decided to tear their franchise apart and go through a rebuild. The first franchise to openly tank, in decades, the Sixers called their losing “The Process.” Often, the phrase “Trust The Process” was said, as the Sixers dropped games. After a dismal 2016 season, the Sixers landed the first pick in Ben Simmons.
Injuries prevented Ben Simmons from playing in the 2017 season, but the Sixers improved. In 2018, the Philadelphia 76ers made their first playoff appearance in six years. During the 2018 playoffs, Joel Embiid emerged as the Sixers’ leader. Despite this, Ben Simmons was still regarded as the franchise player. The Sixers had a respectable second round loss in their playoff return. In 2019, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons got the Sixers back to the second round, where Kawhi Leonard hit the Game 7 buzzer beater.
Ben Simmons would begin struggling with Doc Rivers, over his game play. Simmons’ refusal to shoot three pointers caused friction. With Rivers publicly calling him out, after the Sixers were upset in another second round Game 7, this time by the Hawks, Ben Simmons took time off. Last week, Ben Simmons was traded to the Nets. Tonight, Seth Curry made his debut, as he was in the trade package. Ben Simmons was on the sidelines going crazy during his first night in BK.
