Anthony Davis was traded to the Lakers, in 2019, after seven years with the Pelicans. This continued the Lakers’ historical trend of recruiting All-Star big men. In the franchise’s history, the Lakers acquired Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Shaquille O’Neal. Each came from smaller markets to build dynasties in LA. These big men were often paired with iconic wing players. Wilt was paired with Elgin Baylor and Jerry West. Kareem was paired with Magic Johnson. Shaq was paired with Kobe Bryant. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis was paired with LeBron James. They won a championship, during their first season together. Since, though, the Lakers have struggled, losing in the first round to Phoenix, and struggling after forming a super-team, this year. The Lakers took a blowout home loss to the Bulls, last night. In the third quarter, Anthony Davis lost his shoe, and told the referee. This led to him being ejected from the game. The Lakers would lose 121-103, to the Bulls. More questions now loom for LA.
