On The Rise: E-Reign

EReignBy Carlos Cureno
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Just because a person can’t see it, it doesn’t mean it is not happening. In the case of E-Reign, he may not be a household name, but his music and businesses are doing very well. It takes more than just music for an artist to break through in the current culture.

E-Reign has worked doubletime to turn himself into a brand, somewhat comparable to Jay Z in the late 1990s. While he has never officially compared himself to Jay Z, there a worse things a rapper could be called. In the meantime, E-Reign is just focused on being himself.

In our latest edition of On The Rise, E-Reign speaks to Hip Hop Vibe about the path he has taken. What means just as much to E-Reign as his music is restoring New York City to former glory in hip hop. This means, among other things, he talked about the movement Troy Ave has led for the city.

Read the entire interview below:

Being an artist from NYC, how do you feel about the impact the South has had on your city? I feel the South came in with a new and diverse sound which took people by surprise.

Do you agree with the “restore the feeling” campaign Troy Ave has led over the past three years? Shout out to Troy, I respect anyone putting in the work for our city. We’re bouncing back, the future is near.

Currently, you have your single, “Need More,” making its impact, how did this record come together? “Need More” came about us as people breaking out of our comfort zone, never feeling satisfied while staying focused on what more lies ahead in life while we’re here.

When was it that you realized you had what it took to take over the rap game? Ever since I knew music was my path, I knew I had what it takes being that I grind to the extreme for what I believe in, it’s all about consistency and patience.

You don’t just rap, you’re also a businessman, can you tell us about your L3 clothing line? The clothing line is called L3 empire which stands for longevity, loyalty and love. That is what we stand for and that is the relationship I starve for to gain and keep with the people.

How will your next single live up to your title as the “Future of New York?” I feel as long as I stick to being me and doing what it is I do or believe in , any thing I release will hold up to the title of being the Future of New York.

What was it like the first time you took the stage and performed? My first time performing felt like the same way I feel about my performances today. I get a little nervous before I hit the stage, but once I’m on and the music drops those feelings disappear and the rush of the music takes over.
