Last week, Baton Rouge rapper Youngboy Never Broke Again released the sequel to his 2017 project, “AI Youngboy.” AI Youngway 2 was led by the single “Slime Mentality” along with features from Quando Rondo and NoCap. Its first week sales are in and Youngboy is posting strong numbers as he now as his first No.1 album.
AI Youngboy 2 received the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart with 110,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Complex. 3,000 were accounted for in pure album sales. Post Malone’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding” come in at second with 99,000 equivalent album unit and is still posting huge numbers over a month and a half after after its release.
This is a huge win for Youngboy after his circumstances earlier in the year. He was arrested during Rolling Loud festival weekend in Miami for his alleged involvement in a shooting with Tee Grizzley’s entourage outside the Trump International Beach Resort. This was a violation of his probation. He was held in a Baton Rouge jail and finally released in August. Prior to that, he was arrested in Atlanta in February with a female friend after he reportedly got her to attack a hotel housekeeper.
