The coronavirus (COVID-19) has now reached over 1 million cases worldwide with the United States reaching over 244,200. Many celebrities have been infected with it such as Rudy Gobert, Kevin Durant, Tom Hanks, Idris Elba, and Slim Thug. Now, rising Florida rapper YNW Melly has announced on his Twitter feed that he also has the virus.
Melly is currently incarcerated in a Broward County jail for a 2019 double murder case involving killing his two best friends. His tweet revealed that he got the virus in jail while waiting for his trial. One other inmate at the jail he’s located at was also infected.
Now, Melly is filing a motion for restricted release in hopes of getting treated for COVID-19. Jails aren’t prepared to treat inmates with the virus. He thanked fans for their support and hopes to recover soon. It’ll be interesting to see if he does get released and put on house arrest like Tekashi 6ix9ine was able to today.
Check out his tweet revealing testing positive for COVID-19 below.
