A decade ago, YG caught a wave, and it led to his record deal. The young rapper signed with Def Jam, which came before “Toot It and Boot It” became a hit single. But, the next three years went by, with YG basically just sitting on the shelf.

Soon, an alliance with Young Jeezy thrust YG back in the spotlight. The summer of 2013 came and “My Hitta” took off, living several lives, also dominating 2014. In between, “Who Do You Love,” with Drake, also took off.

In recent years, YG and Nipsey Hussle solidified their alliance. The two have made records together, done business together, and promoted unity together. Prior to Nipsey Hussle’s untimely death, YG had a surprise album planned, but he revealed that’s over, because of his brother’s death.
