Earlier this week, XXL dropped their annual Freshman list, but it wasn’t without its drama. A few rising rappers’ fan bases demanded their favorites be featured on the list. Then, a few rappers claimed XXL was corrupt with their list.
With anything that becomes a popular staple, there will always be some scrutiny. Life is a deep form of abstract art, which means everything for display will be critiqued. Everybody has an opinion and social media gives them a voice.
In the world of urban entertainment, “The Breakfast Club” gives a voice back to the people who drive the culture. This week, XXL was definitely the trending topic and DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God spoke to the editors. Vanessa Satten and Miranda J. discussed the magazine, just as they did last year.
