A few weeks ago, Wale announced his new mixtape, Folarin. Semi self-titled, Wale is delivering the mixtape as a holdover for his next album. When Wale joined Rick Ross’ label, Maybach Music, he immediately made plans to release albums. Rick Ross praised Wale and compared him to Kanye West.

Wale hit the ground running, but soon found himself overshadowed by Meek Mill, his label-mate at Maybach Music. Still, Wale proved he could make hits, as Rick Ross helped him appeal to a broader audience. Remaining lyrical, at heart, Wale also began making records that appealed to women.

Initially, Wale announced albums coming in 2011 and 2012. However, Ross Ross revealed Wale’s next album would come in 2013. Meek Mill released his album in 2012 and Wale announced the Folarin mixtape. Earlier today, Wale released the official artwork for Folarin, which is due on December 24.
