Wale is considered by many to be the future of the hip hop game, as he is one of the few rappers who focus on lyricism. Hailing from Washington, DC, he is managed by Roc Nation and was recently added to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music. Recently, Wale gave his opinion on the rap game.
Long before he ever became a rapper, Wale was a fan of the rap game. Much like the rest of the world, he watched in shock as the announcement of Tupac Shakur’s death was made. From that point on, the spotlight has been on hip hop music. Wale feels the shift took place way back then.
In the fifteen years since 1996, Wale feels the fans have lost their sense of loyalty. Tupac Shakur was the last rapper to have loyal fans and when he died, the game changed. Wale said Tupac is irreplaceable and his void is still here and bigger than ever, fifteen years after he died. Wale said the media hypes of several rappers and their fans turn on them when they make it.
