A lot has changed about Wale over the past couple of years. Always respected in hip hop for his lyrical ability, Wale did not have superstar appeal. It took Rick Ross to help bring this aspect out of Wale. The lyrical prowess remains, but Wale is now known for making songs that cater to the ladies.

Filling the void left by Fabolous, Wale has also been outspoken as long as he has been in the game. Before putting on the MMG chain, Wale was known for getting into Twitter arguments with anyone who offended him. Curbing this energy, Wale put out more hits, among them “Lotus Flower Bomb” with Miguel.

Through “Adorn,” Miguel had a major year in 2012. “Adorn” was the main reason Miguel was in Los Angeles for the Grammys. Still, Kelly Clarkson said she was not familiar with the song, which turned the heads of many. Wale stepped in to defend his collaborator, sounding off on Twitter.

Read Wale’s tweet below:

“I didn’t like the Kelly Clarkson back-handed comments to Miguel. I didn’t like that at all. I just feel like our urban music is belittled, a little bit. Not trying to offend nobody on the committee, but for a record as big as ‘Adorn,’ and it to not be presented as a real performance onstage; it was almost like a segue to an award. Again, I don’t want to offend anybody on the committee, but that wasn’t a very good representation of our music because ‘Adorn’ is gonna be around for the next 30 years.”
