It was in 2011 when Wale’s dreams came true. However, Wale has been making music for some time, eventually gaining the attention of Interscope Records. Different from most rappers on the Interscope roster, critics felt Wale would be 2009’s breakout star. Despite being signed to the Interscope label and having Jay-Z for a manager, Wale’s Attention Deficit album did not sell well.

Rick Ross had a tremendous year in 2009, starting with the official launch of his own record label, Maybach Music Group. In 2010, Rick Ross had a dominant year, which saw him win numerous awards. Towards the end of 2010, Rick Ross began focusing on expanding the roster of his label. When news of Wale leaving Interscope Records hit the media, Rick Ross said he may add Wale to his Maybach Music roster. Not many knew Wale was seriously considering the offer.

In January 2011, Wale signed with Maybach Music and began working on his second album. It was on this album, Ambition, when Wale gained the publicity critics felt he would have gotten in 2009. Wale’s album was filled with hit records and his “Ambition Tour” was launched. The tour, which was supposed to end in March, in the Bahamas, will now continue through May. Wale has added additional shows in May. In late May, the tour will continue, with three stops in London, Birmingham, and Manchester.
