One year ago, Chief Keef took over the internet and immediately earned comparisons to Waka Flocka Flame. A native of Chicago, Chief Keef is a direct product of the violence that the city is experiencing. Many were disappointed in his lyrics that glorify what is going on, leading to even his grandmother calling him out.

Chief Keef initially won the masses over and a bidding war began. Young Jeezy and Birdman publicly recruited him. But, Interscope Records ended up providing the best offer, a $5 million deal. Things got tense, though, when Chief Keef’s Twitter made posts dissing Lupe Fiasco and mocking the death of a peer.

While Chief Keef still claims innocence, it has done nothing to help the public perception of him. When Chief Keef cried after being sentenced to sixty days in juvenile detention, most made fun of him. But, Waka Flocka Flame spoke on this during his interview with MTV News and came to his defense.
