Vince Staples talks new music, respecting Bow Wow, and why gangsta lyrics are lame on #TheBreakfastClub [VIDEO]

Even though the newer West Coast artists didn’t like being referred to as the “New West,” this movement is not like the early one. Back in the late 80s and early 90s, West Coast rappers were all about being gangstas. Nowadays, Kendrick Lamar is the leader out West.

Guys like Kendrick Lamar and Vince Staples have taken over, but that’s not to say YG isn’t a force, too. Anyway, Vince Staples is a Long Beach native, ironic seeing how Snoop Dogg put that city on the map. But, his wave is something completely different.

Vince Staples is fresh off the Big Fish Theory album release and he stopped by “The Breakfast Club” to discuss the album. Speaking with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God, Vince Staples spoke on his new music. He also discussed his respect for Bow Wow, and why gangsta lyrics are lame.
