The West Coast hip hop scene has found its way back to the forefront of the game and Los Angeles is leading the way. Also, for clarification, when Hip Hop Vibe mentions Los Angeles, this includes the whole Los Angeles County. Long Beach is a part of Los Angeles County and Vince Staples is leading the pack out there.
Vince Staples is fresh off the release of his Shyne Coldchain, Vol. 2 mixtape, which is filled with dope music. This music is inspired by both Vince Staples’ life growing up in Long Beach and advice from Mac Miller. All of this has helped propel Vince Staples to be the next rising star in the game.
During SXSW 2014, Vince Staples was in Austin, as well as Sway and the entire team of Shade 45’s “Sway In The Morning.” They set up shop and Vince Staples talked about the West Coast scene, particularly what it was like growing up in Long Beach with the influence of Snoop Dogg. He also talked about his new mixtape and the advice Mac Miller gave him.
