During the midst of the ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ uproar following its release last week, Timbaland has popped up in the mix. He also was in love with an underage Aaliyah. All the while fans are sharing their disgust, hurt, and personal experiences via social media, others including celebrities are exposing the skeletons in their closets.
Since, a video has surfaced of Drake pressing up on a 17 year old girl when he was 23, past clips of R. Kelly survivors, and the latest clip making its rounds is an interview where Timbaland professes his love for Aaliyah.
The video is of an episode with E! True Hollywood Story that aired in 2011. In the interview Timbo says he met the then 16-year old “One In A Million’ singer when he was 23 and felt a connection and “tingle” then. He was sexually and emotionally attracted to her. TImbaland goes on to say,
“When I first met Aaliyah—it’s time for the world to hear this, I’m gonna give a little secret—I was in love with her. I said, ‘She just a baby, I’m old. I’m just gonna be her brother.’ Oh man, I was fightin’, I was fightin’ a lot—a big war. But I loved Aaliyah.”
Timbo also admits to the part of the reason the super producer married his wife, Monique Idlett, was because she resembled the late Princess of R&B so much.
Timbaland not only said he fell in love with Aaliyah when she was 16 & he was 23, but after she passed he said:
“When I first met my wife, I knew I was going to marry her because she looked like Aaliyah.” – @Timbaland
