During the last days of Roc-A-Fella Records, it looked as if Jay-Z would shift his focus to developing Uncle Murda. Behind the scenes, Jay-Z had something bigger in the works, hence the reason he resigned from his Def Jam post. Perhaps the artists were in on it, regardless Uncle Murda carved out his lane.

Much like fellow New York rappers, Memphis Bleek and J-Hood, Uncle Murda turned to mixtapes to stay in touch with his fans. Before these three, most rappers used mixtapes to release old songs and songs left off their official albums. But, these three rappers recorded mixtapes and filmed videos for actual singles from the project.

ThisIs50.com had the chance to sit down with one of hip hop’s original mixtape kings in Uncle Murda. In the third part of this interview, Uncle Murda spoke on the late hip hop super-executive, Chris Lighty. During this installment, Uncle Murda revealed he once felt he was being set up by 50 Cent and Chris Lighty.
