It’s always sad to lose a family member under any circumstances. Sadly to report, Tyler Perry’s nephew, 26 year old Gavin Porter suspiciously died by way of suicide inside his prison cell. Apparently, he hung himself with a bed sheet in a St. Helena Parish, LA cell while being held in solitary confinement. Solitary confinement is known to be one of the worst places an inmate can go.
Earlier in the week, Porter got into a fight with another cell mate and was sent to solitary confinement. Guards did their daily check around 6:00 p.m on Tuesday, February 25th he was just fine. The second nightly check around 8:00p.m he was found dead. The prison is claiming their was no foul play discovered but the Perry family doesn’t believe at all. This death is under investigation.
Porter was serving a 20 year sentence after pleading no contest for shooting his father in front of his mother after the two got into an argument that turned into a physical fight.
