Despite the way the game has changed, people continue to place so much emphasis on record sales. A couple of weeks ago, Troy Ave was blasted on social media due to his low first week results. With Tyga’s results in, he is facing similar fire.

Tyga infamously dealt with delays on The Gold Album for almost all of last year. His situation with Cash Money Records led to Tyga making the decision to leave the label. No longer on the label, Tyga set up a new deal to put his album out, which he did last week, as a surprise.

Since surprise releasing The Gold Album, Tyga’s first week sales results are in. His album has only sold 2,200 copies in its first week, which has led to a lot of social media jokes. Complex made an article criticizing Tyga’s sales and he went on Twitter to set the record straight.
