Twista talks growing Chicago gang violence with Hip Hop Nation [VIDEO]

One major hip hop topic has been the gang violence in Chicago, which has led to hundreds of murders over the past year, alone. Kanye West has rapped about it both on Watch the Throne and on the upcoming Cruel Summer. Many have described Chicago as a warzone, Chief Keef has risen to prominence rapping about the lifestyle, which caused Lupe Fiasco to caution the young rapper.

Recently, everyone from Kanye West to Common have discussed the violence in the Windy City. Twista recently broke his silence and gave his opinion on the situation. The fast spitter recently visited Hip Hop Nation, on Sirius XM. Chicago has become increasingly violent and the message has been sent through the music of the Chicago artists.

Unlike Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco, Twista’s subject matter rarely focuses on social topics. Unlike the lyrics of Chief Keef, Twista rarely does gangsta rap. However, like all three of the mentioned emcees, Twista is from Chicago and the violence has caught his attention. Twista spoke to Hip Hop Nation about the situation.
