New energy overtook New York City three years ago. For the years prior to this, there were a lot of questions about the revival of the New York hip hop scene. The city was still one firmly dominated by Jay-Z and Nas, which it still is, but now the new guys are also getting shine.
But, Troy Ave managed to break through, along with guys like French Montana, A$AP Rocky, and Joey Bada$$. Outside of French Montana, however, Troy Ave proved to have the biggest staying power. Interest well outside of New York City has built for the man who is restoring the feeling.
Troy Ave recently paid a visit to Sway at Shade 45 for an episode of “Sway In The Morning,” where he spoke on his future. He discussed the possibility of signing with T.I. and the New York hip hop scene. During the interview, Troy Ave also spoke on being shouted out by Birdman and much more.
